Ultra Cool Dexter Wins Best in Show

Celebrating the Annual Scruffs Event at Bridge House

Dexter, a two year old Cavapoo carried off no less than 4 prizes as well as ‘Best In Show’ at Bridge House care home’s annual Scruffs competition on 18th August.

Dexter was entered by Ann Goodwill a resident at Bridge House aged 81. Dexter belongs to Ann’s sister Marion.

The Show, a firm favourite with residents and staff was challenged this year by frequent heavy downpours.

Chantelle Merritt, Lifestyle Co-ordinator said: “Our gazebo blew away and we were all chased inside a couple of times.  But it was still a wonderful event and all the dogs were very well behaved – except one – Poppy a cheeky cocker spaniel who won the ‘Least Obedient’ category.

Dexter was nearly pipped at the post by an unusual entry from two year old ‘Dalmatian’, Harrison, the son of a Bridge House team member.  Harrison may have had to concede the ‘Best in Show’ accolade to Dexter, but he provided great amusement for the residents and was awarded ‘Best Dressed’!

The panel of judges was made up of residents Joan Brice (82), Duncan Osbourne (82) and a relative of a resident, Louise Butt.  All were strictly impartial as they had no dogs entering the show.
