Mayor switches on Christmas Lights at Bridge House Dickensian Event

Celebrating Christmas at Bridge House Care Home

The Mayor of Abingdon turned on the Christmas Lights at Bridge House Care Home on 7th December. Cllr. Helen Pighills flicked the big switch at the home at the festive ceremony.

The event was open to the local community in Abingdon, and families with children were welcome to drop by.

The lights ceremony had a Dickensian theme, with staff dressed in Victorian costumes and traditional treats on offer. There was a Santa’s Grotto with a gift for all the children that came along, with a colourful carousel ride.

Resident Monique Antoun, 87, said she especially enjoyed the carousel which took her back to her own childhood.

Residents and visitors also enjoyed roast chestnuts and other festive refreshments, as well as music from Wantage folk band, Pandemonium.
